Glasnevin is often referred to as the dead centre of Dublin as the biggest cemetery in Ireland is located there. The cemetery is officially known as Prospect Cemetery and began life in 1832. There are over 1,000,000 people buried there. It contains the graves of some of the most important Irish figures of the last 150 years. These include Michael Collins, Eamon De Valera, Charles Stewart Parnell, Daniel O'Connell, Brendan Behan, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Frank Duff, Roger Casement, Kevin Barry and hundreds of others.
